Introducing the go to Utah Micro Wedding & Elopement Blog

Hey there!

It's me, Amanda Allison — but you can call me Mandy.

I'm the Micro Wedding and Elopement Photographer who owns this little blog.

Living here in Utah, I’ve chosen a specialty that’s a little different from the traditional local wedding scene... Instead of  the large, high-production weddings that you typically see, I get to work with couples who travel from all over the world to say their vows here in Utah—or in other beautiful places across the Midwest and West Coast.

I’m a photographer who specializes in intimate micro weddings and elopements, as well as medium–sized celebrations that focus on connection & intimacy. While many of my sessions take place here in Utah, I also travel throughout the West to document your most meaningful moments.

As a candid, documentary, and editorial-style wedding photographer, my approach centers around Wedding day storytelling—capturing the day as it naturally unfolds, with intentional portraits woven in. All the tender moments, celebration and unexpected crazy that a wedding day holds.

I focus on natural-light photography to keep every moment feeling real, emotional and true to the moment. This style preserves the intimacy that micro weddings and elopements are known for, without anything overly posed or staged with fancy lighting setups.

Heres a bit more about me,

I Photograph Micro Weddings in Utah + the West

While Utah is my home, I regularly travel across the West for intimate weddings and elopements — some of the places I will travel include:

  • Idaho
  • Colorado
  • Wyoming
  • Oregon
  • Washington
  • Nevada
  • Arizona

From mountain overlooks to quiet forests, desert canyons, or even the Oregon Coast’s stunning beaches, I’m drawn to any place outdoors surrounded by the amazing creation we all know and love. I am beyond blessed to say that I get to be a micro wedding and elopement photographer who captures intimate celebrations in my hometown of Park City, Salt Lake City, all over Utah, and throughout the West.

Some of my favorite locations so far include Rico and Telluride, Colorado, Cannon Beach, Oregon, Park City, and Zion National Park, Utah.

The reason I have chosen Micro Weddings and Elopements as my FOCUS;

I believe that there is something so much more intimate and emotional about a ceremony that isn't for show but is a family and friend focused event. Something that celebrates the love you two share as Husband and Wife.... How you not only love each other but every single person you invited to the event. They only get the invite if they are your FEW, and that is an honor.

This is why I only take a select amount of standard weddings each year.... because why would I trade an intimate party for a performance?? Instead of taking Large weddings I get to pour all my energy into these Micro Weddings and Elopement days that are full of life, adventures and energy!

Here's the truth about me,

I'm just a girl with a dream... One that she never thought she would live...

To be trusted to capture these moments for other people feels like a fever dream....

And I am so so honored to say that it's true.

And now, here we are... Did I ever imagine that I would me a "Blogger"?

NO, Absolutely not...

But, I have decided that as an adventure Micro Wedding and Elopement Photographer, I have the power to help make or break your experience with intimate ceremonies. ESPECIALLY if you are budgeting. So, After deciding its my responsibility to help encourage you to create something perfectly unique to you - I decided to start this blog because, I love to share my creativity, offer recommendations and ultimately share my passion for this style with all the amazing Brides I meet (whether they are my clients or not) and help them think outside of the box when planning their weddings to make them as unique as they are.

So, to start off this exciting new commitment of being a "blogger" and stay true to "Spirit of I Do" I wanted to make a few vows to you....

I Vow To,

  • Always be myself,
  • Never let chat GPT (or any other AI) write my content for me,
  • Help and support you as much as I possibly can,

            And,

  • Offer to serve you the best I possibly can with encouragement, recommendations and even a tap into my "private" creative archive for Micro Wedding Planning tips and tricks. (MY BRAIN)

Knowing someone doesn't come easy... And if you don't know someone, why in the world would you trust them to speak into a day as special as your wedding?

Knowing someone allows you to build a relationship and grow trust and that isn't something that just grows on tree's.. To find that trust starts by understanding a little bit of their story.... And it is so important to me that you understand a bit of me - So here's a small piece of my story.

Amanda Allison

Born 01/30/2003

I came into this world with a head of hair, as full as a typical 1 year olds. My parents chose the name Amanda but have called me "Mandy" as long as I remember....

Throughout my younger years my parents said I was always creative and not to mention I was a little singer....

A glimpse at my life

All I wanted for the longest time was to paint, write songs, or even just live in an imaginary world... Only one of which has left me as an Adult. My desire to write songs when out the window when I learned about photography at 12 years old and ever since I always have ENDLESS photos to remember my life by.

From there I was introduced to the beauty of nature and the amazing ways that we can move through it. I started hiking, biking, skiing and Canoeing, more and more.

I love it.

A glimpse at my life

I continued to dip my toes into the sports, that realistically scared the crap out of me, BUT helped push me to become the woman I am today.

I got a season pass at the ski resort, hiked between jobs, Swam competitively throughout my high school years and photographed everything.

After high school, I met my amazing Husband Kemper Allison. He helps push me to achieve my dreams, continue pushing my limits and we have created a home together.

Now, I still steal all the moments I can enjoying God's amazing creation outside but with a loving Husband.

A glimpse at my life

This year after starting my photography business; I am in awe of being trusted to capture so many amazing Weddings, Elopements and Micro-Weddings... Not to mention every other milestone I am trusted with.

After a trip to visit my Grandma & Aunt in Canada, I have found a whole new appreciation for capturing things that will one day be lost...

I'm an open book, If you have any questions, Reach out! I'd love to get to know each other and be friends <3

Though there is so much to this story; I love that this starts with a girl finding a few passions that ultimately brought me to where I am now;

  • My love for God
  • My passion for big adventures
  • Love between family and friends
  • Having those sentimental memories that I get to look back on while crying happy tears.

Getting to this point in life has shown me how much I value the ability to freeze the fleeting moments; Bringing to light memories that I thought I had lost through a photograph. It touches my heart to see the memories I capture and how unique each love story really is and I truly belie that is because each of us has been intentionally designed. My goal with capturing Micro Weddings and Intimate Ceremonies is to one day bring back those teary eyed memories for you and your families for generations to come... The same way Photographs bring back old emotions for me and my family.

Along with that - I can't wait to one day show my own kids the love their parents share and how I have been able to bless people by capturing those same memories.
