If you’re planning a summer elopement near Salt Lake City, Utah, you already know how magical this season is — long golden evenings, wildflowers, and warm morning air in July.

But while popular spots get crowded fast in summer, there are still hidden gems that offer privacy, beauty, and space to actually experience your wedding day instead of rushing through it.

Here are my 5 favorite lesser-known summer elopement & micro wedding locations near Salt Lake City, Utah that are perfect for intimacy.

Starting with My #1 Choice...

Z-Cross Ranch – Wanship, Utah

A personal favorite because it crosses my love for horses with absolutely stunning elopements, Z-Cross Ranch is one of the most peaceful & 100% private-feeling summer elopement locations near Salt Lake City.

In the summer, this ranch has beautiful golden-hour light, Wide-open fields, aspen forests and without the crowds - It's a private experience, perfect for the adventurer who isn't afraid to saddle up and get married!

This is ideal for couples wanting a summer elopement that feels intimate and stays away from busy public trailheads. Especially if you adore horses as this ranch focuses on rehabilitating wild mustangs and giving them a new purpose in life!

Best for: Micro weddings, Sunset ceremonies, And Private ranch elopements

Little Dell Reservoir – East of Salt Lake City

Little Dell Reservoir is one of the easiest to access and most underrated summer elopement/ Micro Wedding spots near Salt Lake City.

You’ll get beautiful yellow wildflowers (early summer) with a mountain backdrop, but most importantly, this isn't a highly trafficked area compared to other popular mountain lakes during the summer making it a great option! It’s simple, peaceful, and perfect if you want a big view without a long hike on your wedding day.

Plus, If you keep it under 20 people there is no permit required for your little ceremony!

Best for: Accessible summer elopements, Sunrise & sunset ceremonies, Minimal-effort beautiful backdrops

Guardsman Pass – Between Park City & Big Cottonwood Canyon

Guardsman Pass is one with the most iconic alpine views that's easily accessible. This is a more popular elopement location but with their changing accessability traffic for ceremonies here has slowed down wildy. I recommend a local transportation company to pick you up and drop you off due to the county limiting parking + enforcing new parking fee's....

During summer months, you’ll find:

  • Large Green meadows with bunches of flowers
  • Sweeping mountain views
  • post sunset cotton candy skies which feel unreal at such a high elevation

This is another perfect location if you want your elopement to feel adventurous but still include a few people who can't get around the best- that way the ceremony is easily accessible but afterwords we can go hike to bloods lake for some incredible bridals.

Best for: Summer sunrise & sunset elopements, Adventurous couples, Alpine meadow ceremonies, Accessability.

Solitude & Brighton, Utah

Brighton and solitude are an elopement photographers dream — And probably yours, especially if you love to hike to alpine lakes.

With big rock faces as your backdrop, Wildflowers EVERYWHERE, And the ability to take a fun chairlift ride or eat ice cream and chicken tenders the local shop; Brighton gives you that “deep mountain” feeling while still being relatively easy to get to from the valley.

It's just under an hour from the airport and with some AMAZING camping locations, alpine air bnb's or resorts it's perfect for a quick adventure elopement.

Best for: Summer mountain elopements, Forest ceremonies, Elopement hikes

Big Springs Park – Provo Canyon

Just south of Salt Lake City, Big Springs Park in Provo Canyon is a summer elopement location that feels quiet and romantic in the early morning hours.

This spot requires a little hike but is totally worth the view when you see it. Not only is it a stunning location but you have a bit of flexibility with this one

Want to bring your horse? - No worries.

Need somewhere that looks hard to reach but actually is a 15 minute hike? - You've got it

Want access to some pavillions and restrooms to ease your mind or make for a fun post elopement reception location? - Big Springs is your place.

A big bonus is all the amazing locations that are but near big springs park... bridal viel falls and sundance are both within 20 minutes of this secluded spot.

Best for: Summer elopements, Romantic sunrise ceremonies, Easy-access locations

PLEASE NOTE:

Each of these locations is an outdoor recreation area so you may never truly have it to yourself but everyone is very very welcoming and supportive in the outdoor industry. If you have questions on which locations will offer the most privacy - don't hesitate to reach out! I have tons of experience with each of them and I would love to guide you through the process.

Here's A Few More Reasons Utah Is Perfect For Elopements and Micro Weddings:

Alot of utah is BLM or Public land.

  1. Utah has warm days and chilly evenings
  2. Our mountain views are so vast and extremely accessible

And, If you want something truly private there are so many more locations that get you 99.9% separated from the crowds. I just can't share these in a blog or they won't be quite as private ;)

Planning a Micro wedding or Elopement in Utah (especially from out of state) can feel daunting but I swear it doesn't need to! I planned my own Micro wedding and have helped others do the same with almost no time!!! (like 1 month or less)

Here in Utah you may get rolling eyes from vendors or auto reply's saying

"you have to book 6 months in advance"
"It can't be done"
"NO"

But, If you have access to the right vendor rec's it'll be a breeze I promise - And lucky you, You already have your photographer covered + I have SOOOO many amazing vendor connections that are just as passionate about making it happen as I am.

One of my favorite vendors offers both content creation and stunning florals - checkout Sierra with cottage floral design with this link

With the right Location, Vendors and Adding in your favorite activity - you can have a day that feels Intentional, Private and Just as Important as it really is — surrounded by landscapes that feel like they were made just for you.
